Honeymoon Cottage 1961, Oakhurst, California

That's my grandmother, Macie Hedrick Shank, on her road trip with my grandfather, Thomas Joseph Shank, across the U.S. in a blue Chrysler Imperial... which you can see on the right side of this picture. I love the gingerbread house decorations on this place. Its like Hansel and Gretel are supposed to come visit at any moment. Since its the Honeymoon Cottage, they really might see things that they shouldn't. Despite the name of the cottage, this was not my grandparents honeymoon. As a matter of fact, their two sons, my dad and uncle, were home in West Virginia with family.

As for the location... This was one of the cottages at the old Holiday Inn which was on the site where a Rite-Aid is now located at Highway 41 and Crane Valley Rd 426... also known as the Talking Bear Road intersection.
